New career high ATP ranking for Kyle
You could be forgiven for thinking that the high of qualifying for the Australian Open might have been followed by an inevitable dip. Not for Kyle Edmund. The former grantee is made of sterner stuff and followed his Melbourne success with a no sets lost triumph in the $50k Challenger in Hong Kong. Kyle won a tie break in each of his matches before the final, but cruised the title match 6-1 6-2 in 55 minutes against Tatsuma Ito of Japan.
This latest success has taken Edmund’s ATP ranking to a new career high of 148 and he is now within striking distance of automatic qualification for ATP Tour tournaments. Another career high was also posted by Liam Broady, who sits at 180.
